Version Savers file backup activity is started automatically at Windows startup.

 

If you want to temporarily stop the background file backup:

 

• In Control Panel / Administrative Tools, select "Services"
• Scroll down the list of displayed services to the one named "Version Saver background service"
• Right-click the mouse on this and choose "Stop"
• Similarly to restart the service, right click and choose "Start"

 

Warning: it is OK to temporarily stop the Version Saver service. No harm will be done to your files or to the backups, even if Version Saver is in the middle of backing up when you stop it. However we advise against more drastic changes, such as using the Properties dialog to disable the service or change its type from Automatic to Manual. Then your files will no longer be protected by the automatic background backup.
